Sherborne Castle, home to Sir Walter Raleigh (1552-1618 (beheaded)), a favourite of Elizabeth I and one of the founders of modern America

Tuesday 17 July 2007 - Sherborne In Bloom Judging Day
Hi gang,

Today has been the big day and as I write it has gone so well.

We met the two Britain in Bloom judges this morning at the Castle Orangery and they were suitably impressed. (Not every town has its own castle so if you've got it, flaunt it   !)

We talked them through the portfolio and that seemed to go down well.

The Britain in Bloom judges are the two in the middle with the blue clipboards:

Thanks to Keith who was the papparazo.

Then Caz and co. took them on a tour of the town to see all the bits we want them to see. It started off raining but brightened up and by the end the sun was shining so all looked good.

After that  they came back to see the exhibition and they were genuinely staggered by the number and quality of the photos. Thanks to everyone for making this possible: we can be proud that we have shown the best of Sherborne's gardens to the people who count.  After prize-giving of the gardens competition by the mayor, followed by a lunch at the Boys School, the judges left.

A lot of people came through the exhibition today and we are expecting it to be busy. The exhibition is now on till Saturday so please come and help steward whenever you can.

Congratulations to Brian H., Keith and Norman for prizes in the photography competition.

Thanks everyone, we've done fine.

Sherborne In Bloom Growing For Gold Competition

About This Blog
Sherborne Bradford Abbas Camera Club are supporting 'Sherborne In Bloom 2007', our town's entry in this year's prestigous Britain In Bloom competition.

Members of the club will be roaming the town taking photographs of the gardens, containers, shops, pubs, restaurants, allotments, open spaces, private spaces - in fact, anywhere where they can find spectacular blooms!

The photographic entries will be displayed in the town in judging week (mid July).

This blog is primarily for the photographers to keep in touch with one another and to monitor progress as we shoot the town's flowers!
